A DIY almond facial scrub recipe that gently cleanses and leaves skin soft. Can be customized to suit conditions like acne. Use it daily for smooth glowing skin.
Did you know almonds are wonderful for external use? I find they work like a facial scrub and the oils leave your skin feeling lovely and soft.
You may have a bag of almond flour for baking low carb goodies. And, you can use the finely ground almonds as a gentle exfoliating scrub.
First off, almonds have some amazing health benefits. They are a great source of vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. And, the fiber, protein, and fat makes almonds a great snack choice to curb hunger.
When used externally, finely ground almonds can brighten and clear your skin. Using as a scrub, they help speed up the cell-renewal process making skin glow.
The natural oils in the nuts also nourish the skin and moisturize. And, almond oil has been shown to brighten the skin. That’s why the DIY almond facial scrub recipe works so well.
Almond oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants. When used on the skin, it helps prevent damage from free radicals and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. So, the skin looks younger and smoother!
The oil in almonds also contain monounsaturated fats that can soothe skin due their anti-inflammatory properties!
Making the homemade almond facial scrub recipe and massaging it onto your skin also increases blood circulation. This helps the skin look softer and younger with an energized glow.
When you make your own skincare products at home, you can save money and avoid harsh chemicals. And, these natural skin remedies have been around for centuries.
Although I usually buy almonds pre-ground, it’s simple to grind raw almonds yourself. All you need to do is soak the almonds for a few hours in water then grind them with a mortar and pestle.
You also have more control of how much the nuts are ground when you grind them yourself. So, feel free to use freshly ground raw nuts in the almond facial scrub recipe.
I like to add a few drops of beneficial essential oils to the recipe. Here’s a few of my favorite oils for skin:
Ylang ylang is a good choice for oily skin due to it’s antibacterial and astringent properties.
Tea tree is a good choice for acne prone skin. It’s the top pick to clear up skin due to it having antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral and disinfectant properties.
Lemongrass is a good astringent and skin toner making it beneficial for acne and large pores. It may also help increase cell renewal and repair.
For those with signs of aging skin, frankincense may be used to improve elasticity and regenerate cells. It can help your skin look healthy and youthful.
